Green Smoothies – So Good For You

Green smoothies are just so good for you. Leafy greens are absolutely packed with stuff that is really good for you. They are a great source of calcium, magnesium and Vitamin C. Green smoothies also contain carotenoids that have been proven to help protect against macular degeneration and foliate to guard against diabetes, cancer and heart disease.

You cannot release the nutrients of leafy greens just by simply chewing them because when fresh, whole foods are taken down to the cellular level by your smoothie maker, the nutrients become readily available to nourish your body. High speed mixing creates green smoothies quickly, keeping oxidation to a minimum.

This means you will need the best blender for making smoothies, buy the best one you can afford. The speed and power is so important when making smoothies. The speed in which smoothies are made helps to keep them fresh and the power helps to blend them quickly.

Good sources of vitamin e include avocados, dark green vegetables, vegetable oils and wholegrain products. You can buy fibre powder to add to your smoothies for an extra boost and for a different flavour you could add natural, flavoured juices to your smoothies as a base instead of water.
